Francisco Rodriguez hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as Rodriguez threw a shutout to carry the Santa Fe Fuego (33-19) to an 11-0 victory over the Trinidad Triggers at Fort Marcy Park.
Rodriguez kept contact to a minimum, striking out 14 the Trinidad Triggers (42-18) batters. The Santa Fe Fuegos pitcher gave up just four hits over nine shutout innings.
The Santa Fe Fuego ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Santa Fe Fuego scored three runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. A three-run home run by Kevin Wirth helped the Santa Fe Fuego score three runs in the seventh. The Santa Fe Fuego had three hits in the inning.
Matt Petrone had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the sixth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.
Kyle Young couldnt get it done on the rubber for the Trinidad Triggers, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
Louie Saenz, Chevas Numata, Petrone and Wirth helped lead the Santa Fe Fuego. They combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
